It's currently being reported by Sherdog and MMAWeekly in the last ten minutes that both Phil Baroni and Murilo 'Ninja' Rua have been cleared to fight on Elite XC and Strikeforce's Judgment Day card this Friday Night in San Jose, California.

Both cleared by the California State Athletic Commission this morning, Ninja Rua has been reinstated to fight Joey Villasenor for the vacant Elite XC Middleweight Championship, while Phil Baroni retains his position in the card's main event against MMA legend Frank Shamrock for the promotions Middleweight belt.

Baroni's Participation At Strikeforce In Doubt

Phil Baroni is today awaiting the results of his latest MRI scan in clearance for his bout against Frank Shamrock this Friday night in San Jose, California. GracieFighter is reporting that if Baroni does not gain clearance to fight, then Cung Le is expected to replace him.

It's reported that the Ultimate Fighting Championship sent in a suspect MRI to the California State Athletic Commission, even after Baroni was quoted as being on such good terms with the promotion. A representative of Baroni, Ken Pavia, stated that the results should be known by Wednesday morning.

Ken Pavia also confirmed that the medical issues surrounding Murlio "Ninja" Rua have been resolved, and it's now more than likely Rua will be competing on the Judgment Day card this Friday night. In relation to this piece of news Rua's would-be replacement Falaniko Vitale has been signed to a long-term contract with Elite XC.

Krazy Horse Bennett Off Strikeforce Card

Charles 'Krazy Horse' Bennett has apparently run into 'legal issues' that are preventing him from fighting this weekend on the Strikeforce Judgment Day card. This news is in addition to the removal of PRIDE fighter Murilo 'Ninja' Rua reported a few days ago. No word on what these legal issues involve. The main event of Strikeforce: Judgment Day on Friday June 22 will see MMA legend Frank Shamrock take on the New York Bad Ass Phil Baroni in one of the most anticipated fights this year. Ken Shamrock Set For UFC 75: London?

After buying my tickets yesterday for the biggest mixed martial arts card ever to grace the United Kingdom, I immediately learned of UFC legend Ken Shamrock's intention of returning to the Octagon once again. Kenny Rice of NBCSports sat down with Shamrock and asked him a few questions in regard to his return to the sport.

"I have seven children, two grandchildren. I have to make a living. The UFC didn't offer me any fights and the IFL came along and offered me a job," he says. "That's why I'm here, I make my living in the fight game."

"I feel good about the training. Good about the support of my family and friends," he said. "The negotiations are going good with the UFC. I'm ready to rock."

Loretta Hunt of The Fight Network is reporting that Ken's return will be against Michael Bisping at UFC 75, regardless of Ticketmaster's advertising of Bisping vs. Matt Hamill for the card. Both this report and the NBCSports article do not compliment each other. Ken Shamrock has yet to name an opponent for his return fight, and nothing of interest as far as bouts are concerned was mentioned regarding either Shamrock nor Bisping in the official press release for UFC 75 by Zuffa yesterday.

ICON Sport 'FEARLESS' June 30th Card Pushed Back

The Hawaii-based promotion has been forced to push their June 30th fight card back to September 15th, twelve weeks after the original date. The event has been postponed due to Robbie Lawler's separated shoulder injury that he sustained in training. Despite Lawler's intentions of fighting regardless of the injury, doctors have given him 4 to 6 weeks to heal appropriately.

Kala Kolohe Hose, Lawler's opponent on the FEARLESS card, was quoted;

“It’s heartbreaking that we won’t meet on June 30th. But I want Robbie to take all the time he needs to heal. I want him healthy when I beat him. I don’t want any excuses.”

Kala Kolohe Hose is currently teaming with UFC star and ICON Martial Arts instructor Chris Leben in preparation for the fight.

The show’s delay just gives me more time to get Kala Kolohe ready for Robbie. I know how he (Lawler) fights. I understand his game. Kala Kolohe will be ready.”

Zuffa LLC File Lawsuit Against Cage Rage

FightOpinion.com is reporting that the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® 'Zuffa LLC' has sued the UK's premier MMA promotion 'Cage Rage' over claims that the latter company is using the copyrighted term "Ultimate Fighting" to promote their fight cards. Zuffa have hired the 'McDermott Will & Emery' London office to advise them in the High Court dispute. Zuffa alleges that UK company Cage Rage infringed its trademark by organising fights using the Ultimate Fighting name. Zuffa also have the rights to several other phrases, including “The Ultimate Fighter,” “Submission,” “As Real As It Gets” and "The Octagon". Not to mention it's eight-sided cage design.

Just how far can the UFC go in terms of protecting their copyrighted slogans? 'Ultimate Fighting' is a term widely used by many fans, and non-fans, of the sport. Used in newspapers, by bloggers, and in radio, 'ultimate fighting' means much more than simply an exclusive company slogan. This case will show us how effective their grounds for lawsuits are, and whether or not the term 'ultimate fighting' can and will be used as a marketing tool by media outlets and other fight promotions in the future.
